If you have dry skin, you probably experienced your skin become itchy and flaky at least once in your life. The conditions might vary depends on the weather, humidity level, and your skin condition.
Weather and humidity in the air play an important role for dry skin people. When the temperature drop and the air gets dry, water on your skin evaporates quickly.

Not only that you have to experience discomfort on the skin, but you are also unable to put on makeup because it will look so cakey on your face.
It might not sound like a big deal but it is actually a pretty big deal especially if you have an important date or meeting to attend the next day.
I tried and tested these products and think all these products work very well on dry and dehydrated skin. Before I dive into the products, I’d also like to remind you that it will also depend on your skin condition whether these products work for you overnight.
But it definitely does the trick on my skin 90% of the time. Even when they do not help me get rid of my flaky skin overnight, I will still see a big improvement in my skin condition regardless.
How Do I To Pick The Products For Dry, Flaky Skin
I pay close attention to the skin care products I use on my face especially when my skin is showing signs that it is upset. Let’s start with toner. The first step of skin care after you cleanse your face, it might look unimportant but trust me, it’s necessary to incorporate one into your skincare routine. Toner restores the skin’s pH level and prepares your skin for your following skin care products such as essence and moisturizer. It’s crucial if you want to keep your skin balanced and healthy.
Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner is the right match for you if you have dry and sensitive skin. Here’s why. It has a pH level of 5 which is a mildly acidic pH that very similar to our skin’s natural pH level. In other words, it is very gentle and mild to use on all skin types even on sensitive skin.

I just recently discovered this miracle cream and I regretted not getting my hands on this earlier. This is a cult classic and well-loved by many professional makeup artists. This can be used as a makeup primer, a moisturizer or moisturizing mask. And guess what? It does all three jobs fantastically. Not only it makes my makeup stay and looking flawless for more than 8 hours but also keep my face nourishing all the time.
It has a really light but creamy texture that spread on your face like a dream. A little goes a long way, but you can apply more if your skin is feeling exceptionally dehydrated and dry.
This cream reminds me a lot of the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream(link to Amazon), but with a lighter texture and better scent in my opinion. This cream intensively moisturizes and protects my skin yet doesn’t feel heavy at all. It blends and absorbs into your skin quickly and leaves your skin look soft and plump. Ever since I started using this cream, my skin just feels a lot more stable than before.
Be careful not to apply this moisturizer too close to your eye area though. It might cause some discomfort around the eye area. Apart from that, I love everything about this moisturizer.
Avene Soothing Moisture Mask
Much like its name, Avene Soothing Moisture Mask not only it moisturizes your skin but also soothes your skin at the same time. Even though it has a creamy thick texture, you do not have to wash this off after you use it. All you need to do is apply a thick layer on your face and let this baby works its magic for 10-15 minutes. After that, gently tissue off any excess and feel your skin becomes soft and smooth.
This is the solution for your dehydrated, stressed and sensitive skin. It soothes redness and tightness on your skin and your skin feels instant relief right after you apply it.
I measured my skin’s water content before and after I apply the product, and the following graph shows that my skin’s water content increase from 38% to 47% after I use Avene Soothing Moisture Mask.
The main ingredients including their signature Avene thermal spring water, stearic acid, and capric triglycerides. Avene thermal spring water is very gentle and soothing to the skin. It’s known for its versatility to use on different parts of the body to relieve and soothe skin conditions. For instance, post- procedure, diaper rash and allergic reactions.

Last but not least, this list wouldn’t complete without a sheet mask that will quench your skin’s thirst. This sheet mask from Dr. Jart is definitely an oldie but goodie amongst K beauty products. It is made for solely one purpose which is to provide your skin with the ultimate hydration.
With ingredients like aquaxyl and xylitol, your skin barrier function is enhanced. Thus, your skin will prevent water loss and retain skin’s moisture better.
Besides, other ingredients like hyaluronic acid and algae extract to replenish your skin and provide long-lasting hydration.
You might not able to see or feel the differences in your skin. But the result is there. Before I use the sheet mask, my skin is quite dry and dehydrated. After the sheet mask, you can see my skin’s water content significantly boost up to 80%. Even after I wake up in the morning, my skin is still feeling hydrated and plump. The result shows that the sheet mask did a great job of boosting hydration and retain moisture on my skin.
There’s really just one problem with this sheet mask, it contains alcohol. I personally try to avoid alcohol in skin care as much as I could.
