If that’s only one thing I could splurge in my skin care routine, it would be the essence. Essence is applied to the skin after cleansing and toner. It is not a moisturizer even though it sounds like one. Essences can penetrate deep into the inner skin because the molecule is so small.
While essences give your inner skin nutrients but cream or lotion keep your outer skin smooth and moisturize. Both are essential steps in your skincare routine.

That being said, cold air in the fall and winter make my skin feels even drier. I definitely need to moisturize to keep my skin hydrated.
