Features to Look For in Sunscreen
- SPF
- Water Resistant
- Lightweight Texture
- Lays Well Underneath Makeup
- Don’t Cause Any Breakout On The Skin
The very first thing to check on sunscreen is definitely the SPF. Normally sunscreen will carry SPF 15, SPF 30 and spf50. SPF 30 can block 97 percent of UV rays and SPF 50 block 98 percent of UV rays. So, any sunscreen that has SPF over 50 didn’t make that much of the differences as people thought they would.
In addition, you should also check if the sunscreen is water-resistant or not especially if you spend lots of time doing outdoor activities. It’s important to reapply sunscreen every few hours to keep your skin protected.
The texture of the sunscreen is very important to me as I put makeup on my skin frequently. I need a sunscreen that sinks right onto my skin and lays well underneath any foundation. My skin should still feel light and not appeared to be greasy or sticky. I don’t have time to wait for the sunscreen to sink in before I apply my makeup, especially in the morning when I have to rush to work. Hence, it’s crucial that my sunscreen is lightweight and doesn’t leave a white cast on my face.
Last but not least, the sunscreen must not break you out or caused any skin problems. Some sunscreen formulas might cause skin problem, so just be careful when you try a new sunscreen. If you suspect your skin react to the sunscreen that you are using, stop for a week and try again. If the same problem occurs, then maybe you need to try another brand.
Currently, I have three sunscreens on my makeup desk that I regularly use. I switch between them depends on the occasions, activities, and mood.
Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 50+(Check Current Price on Amazon)
When it comes to sunscreen, Shiseido is the brand I trusted the most. I started using Shiseido sunscreen since my high school years. And if I can only pick one sunscreen to use for the rest of my life, it will be Shiseido without a doubt.
It has all the features I needed in sunscreen and the price is reasonable. The formula of the sunscreen is so good. It is extremely lightweight, you don’t even need to wait for it to set. It just set right on your skin once you apply it. The fluid is white in color when you squeeze from the bottle, but when you spread it, it’s colorless. Therefore, it doesn’t leave a white cast on your face. You can also use this one on your body, it won’t leave a greasy feeling and doesn’t have the heavy sunscreen scent. In fact, it almost feel like no scent in it even when you apply close to your nose area. With that being said, anyone can use this sunscreen regardless of their gender or skin color.
There are numerous brands of sunscreen in the market, yet I keep going back to the same brand for their sunscreen. I realized not all the sunscreen that claimed to have the same SPF give my skin the same protection. I definitely can tell the difference in my skin when I change my sunscreen to other brands.
One of the distinctive features of the sunscreen is the wetforce technology. The very special innovative technology actually make the sunscreen even more effective on the applied area when it’s exposed to water. If you are into watersports, you definitely need to try this out.
I always carry this one with me whenever I go traveling or outdoor activities, I’ve never gotten any sunburn on my skin. For that reason, this sunscreen is 100% on my ride or die list.
In addition, the brand offer a variety of sunscreen choices and I guarantee you’ll find one that is suitable for your skin types and lifestyle.
BANILA CO IT Radiant CC Cream with SPF 30 PA++(Check Current Price on Amazon)
I bought Banila Co It Radiant CC Cream a few years ago when I traveled to Korea. CC cream is extremely popular in Korea back then. You can see most of the Korean brands has a CC cream. I bought a few CC creams at that time. But Banila Co It Radiant CC Cream is the only CC cream that I still use until today.
I frequently use this cc cream as a sunscreen or a makeup base. My skin can be dull especially if I slept late the night before. This CC cream corrects my skin tone and also leaves my skin dewy and fresh.
It has a tint of pink and a thicker texture compare to the Shiseido sunscreen. So, if you have oily or combination skin types, you might need to think twice for this one. But if you are into Korean dewy skin trend, then this one definitely is a good makeup base for you.
This one only has SPF 30 which I wouldn’t recommend using this for outdoor activities. However, it is perfect for a day stay in, or sometimes to run a small errand like pick up your packages. That’s the time I’ll put this cc cream on, then my skin will look more radiant and protected even without any foundation.
